about

With the project “Trammari”, the pianist and composer Rocco De Rosa continues his musical itinerary which has begun with the previous project called “Rotte Distratte”. Already in 2002 his direction turned towards acoustic melodies, both archaic and current, related to the south of Italy, to its culture and to its traditions. “Trammari” represents a further definition of De Rosa's identity and artistic research. Now, the shores where to stop and ponder are more frequent. The sea, as the title “Trammari” suggests, is the main element around which everything happens. The sea that is able to meet and join cultures, languages or knowledge (Trammari, Ir Dum, Tres Pasos). The sea as unique way of escape from hunger and despair which becomes the death place of thousands of emigrants, nameless corpses which nobody will speak about (Mare Monstrum). The sea as horizon to contemplate, as meditative space (Sto, Gading). In “Trammari”, which means “among the seas”, one can find the pure soil, the south with its colours, its sounds and its tragedies; the south and its dilate time, the slowness of thought and gestures (Ritratto, Fragili derive, Timeless, Fratelli), its despair (Il Male Divino, Estuari) and its silence (Matera, Rosa di rabbia). Some compositions are dedicated to important characters who were present in Rocco De Rosa's life (the famous Italian songwriter Sergio Endrigo and the sound technician Pasquale Trivigno). Among the various guests who gave their extraordinary contribution: Maria Pia De Vito, Ralph Towner, Daniele Sepe, Marco Siniscalco, Michele Rabbia, Giovanni Di Cosimo, Riccardo Cimino.
